About the event

Puthandu Virundhu – Jaffna Edit is a celebration of Tamil New Year through the lens of the Jaffna peninsula. Curated by Chef Goku and Chef Priya Bala, and powered by Pushpa’s Kitchen, this is a traditional banana leaf feast that honours a cuisine shaped by land, migration, and cultural pride.


The meal unfolds on a banana leaf, an edible canvas that carries stories of heritage. Each dish is thoughtfully placed following tradition, balancing the six tastes, and symbolising prosperity and renewal for the year ahead.


From humble vegetables, greens, and lentils to coconut-rich gravies and bold, fiery sambols, the spread showcases the signature flavours of Jaffna. Intense, aromatic, and deeply rooted. Recipes are drawn from home kitchens, shaped by generations, and defined by techniques unique to the peninsula, including sun-drying, roasting, pounding, and slow cooking.


This is not a reinterpretation. It is a preservation.
